Albums
The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and a number of compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Toto’s third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group’s lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band dug through old tapes and recordings to create the unique record. The album was well-received by fans and Toto embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto is an American rock band formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group of six includes vocalist/guitarist Steve Lukather, bassist David Paich and keyboardist/vocalist Steve Porcaro, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarist and vocalist Joseph Williams. During the tour, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. After the tour the band decided to let him go and hired guitarist/singer Joseph Williams to take his place. David Hungate, the drummer also quit the band following the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

The most watched video by the group is “Africa” which has more than one billion views on YouTube. The video takes place in a library and shows the band performing in front of a book about Africa.
The track “Africa” is a track from the album Toto IV, was written by the band members and was produced by David Pich. The song was written by band members and produced David Paich. It was a big hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto regain their popularity following their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.
Toto began a global tour following the release of their album. The group included touring musicians Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest. Warren Ham, Shem von Schröeck, and Shem von Schroeck were also part of the group. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto’s drummer, quit the group for personal reasons. The group held an audition to find an alternative for Frederiksen.

Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to Toto’s formation. Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on a project entitled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks as well as several finished recordings of old songs. The album became a huge hit and the band embarked on a tours to promote it.

Toto, known for the hit song “Africa”, recently reunited to promote their new album, All In. The album, which was released on November 6, 2018 included three new tracks from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun as well as completed recordings of four tracks from the past with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also featured the cover version of Weezer’s song “Hash Pipe” which the band re-released after hearing it on the radio.
